05-26-02 Memorial Day Weekend Barby

Katie and Robby went to get some s'mores' makings for later and also to stop by my place to pick up some wood for the fire — an essential ingredient for s'mores. Yes — Katie let Robby drive her car. Of course, she was sitting next to him.

I found out that there is a big cultural difference between the East Coast and West Coast when it comes to s'mores. For those who don't know s'mores — you start by roasting a marshmallow. The level of roasting is optional. Some go for the evenly brown outside with the melted interior while others are not so patient and prefer the more violent flambé. Then you make a sandwich with two pieces of graham cracker, a square of Hersheys Chocolate, and the roasted marshmallow. It's so good you always want s'more.

That is the West Coast s'more. The East Cost s'more (according to Zoe who is from Connecticut) is made with saltine crackers instead of graham crackers. My body is shaking violently just thinking about it!
