She
shared here Reese's Peanut Butter cups with us and never did
drink but a tiny amount of the Dr. Pepper. We got off the ferry
to find that all of the gas stations on the Island were closed.
It seemed that the reserve light kept getting brighter. We got
home on fumes. We tucked Robyn in and crashed.
Gordy
...Unbeknownst
to Gordy, we *ALL* didn't crash. <shhhhh secrets follows!>
Since, Robyn didn't have anything "good" to eat on
the plane, and junk food is not so good for a growing gal, unpacking
revealed yet more "junk-fud", and a warm cheese of
unknown age. She was still hungry.
Our
house, despite our cleaning and prepping and hoping to get some
good food in the fridge, well, it isn't geared towards sleep-overs,
and healthy eat-ins. Kids just don't warm up to egg-beaters
<g>. We didn't do much shopping either since shoveling
out the ol' hovel took way more effort than we anticipated,
and primping Gerry's bedroom for Robyn, with "girlystuff"
took a lot of time to make it home - nay homier, and I think
we got that down [or did Robyn's presence make it more homier..hmm?].
We
also anticipated Robyn having a total crash this evening after
her adventure and time change. We had planned to go to Payless
with Robyn the next day, to stock up on good food and Robyn's
favorite food [Grand-Parent approved of course]. To our surprise
things didn't pan out as planned. This turned out to be part
of the theme of the week. Be flexible, don't plan too much,
and expect the unexpected.
I
digress.
Finally
home on sheer will and fumes, Robyn said she was hungry. Ut
oh, rye bread with caraway seeds? Horrors, yet also english
muffins. Gordy, the old-fashioned kinda guy he is, hands down
refused to make a grilled cheese with english muffins.
Gordy thought toast would suffice. The latent "mother"
in me insisted on some healthy food. With that said, he dragged
his tired self upstairs.
After
negotiations, I made Robyn a grilled cheese on english muffin
with some orange juice as an aperitif, and some milk with her
meal. As I was "cooking", Robyn and I talked a lot.
There were some very heartfelt chat, and some laughs, some hugs,
and just being us together. There was some teasing and astonishment
at the way sound travels when Papa snores <g>. She ate
1/2 of her sandwich, and milk, so it was time to get ready for
bed, foregoing the shower tonight for an AM shower instead.
There
were more gifts and things Robyn wanted to share, as she was
tucked her into bed. We properly settled Tommy [the "make
a bear" from her Dad, which she proudly shared his message
with us]. There was talk of what the week would bring, and some
instructions from Robyn as to just how it would play out <g>.
We decided to keep a lowlight on tonight, since getting out
of bed for the bathroom required a GPS and compass methinks.
More tucking in and talking and using "soft voices"
as Robyn was finally resting in bed, with her blanket she brought,
her very special blanket we keep for her here [for her use only
- pink, purple, and white striped of course], just the right
amount of pillows fluffed just so, room heat just right, eyes
closing, then a final kiss and hug good night.
Pleading
the fifth, I won't say what time this was...
..Ah, it's good to be Zoe tonight.
