Pentax H1a and Pentax SPII
I
hadn't planned on an SLR. I've always gravitated to rangefinders
but I had been casting glances at the Pentax M42 screw mount cameras
and others with that mount. Lots of great and inexpensive lenses
in the M42 screw mount such as the Pentax
Super Takumars. The SLR does work better for those closeup shots
and shots with longer lenses.

I
traded the Pentax H1a
for a wrist strap. He was giving it away for shipping and took the
strap instead. It's the end of the line for the first Pentax series
of SLRs, made in the mid 1960s. These made way for the Spotmatic.
The H1a is meterless, which suits me fine since every other camera
I use is also meterless. The camera has a dent on top which cracked
the pentaprism. He included a new pentaprism. It's almost like new.
This is an almost new 55/2 Super Takumar. A great lens. I will need
to put some new seals in it and maybe some new leather. The old
covering is starting to come loose a bit. Otherwise it's working
great.

It
also came with a 35/3.5 Super Takumar.

Then
one day I recieved an email from a reader of my blog wanting to
know if I wanted a couple of old cameras that he had in a box. For
free. Of course, I said, what are they. One was this classic Spotmatic
SPII. It could use some new seals but it works just fine. The lens
is a 90mm Vega 12 from my medium format Salut-S
with an M42
adapter. It's a 90mm lens that close focuses to .5 meter.

A
like new Pentax
Super Multi-Coated Takumar 135/3.5 that I traded for a neck
strap.

Some
macro extension tubes I picked up on eBay for $15.95.

The
last of the cheap lenses. I picked up this beautiful Pentax Super
Takumar 28/3.5 for $50. It's like new. Smooth!
Additions
needed:
I would like to add a 20mm lens but there are no cheap options with
20mm. Maybe something longer. If I get a 250 for the Salut-S I could
use it with the M42 adapter. Otherwise I just need to do some CLAs.
