5x7
Burke & James
I
had been wanting a 4x5 view camera but then this 5x7
Burke & James, with a 254mm Elgeet (73mm equivalent on 4x5
and 51mm equivalent on 5x7) in a Alphax shutter, fell
into my lap for 5 rolls of film. And then I received a Schneider
G-Claron 210 (59mm equivalent on 4x5 and 42mm equivalent on 5x7)
which is from a process camera and it is scary
sharp for the price of the postage to send it to me. Process
lenses are usually in a barrel without a shutter. They cost less
that way. That's the 210 above. I still need to repair the 5x7 back.
It will do 4x5 and 120 now.

One
solution for a shutter is an old one and that is a Packard
shutter. A little
hardboard and some cleaning up and I can use this one, that
I've had for 30 years, on all my barrel lenses.

My
other lenses ready to mount, except for the Elgeet which is in a
shutter.

This is
the 254mm Elgeet that came with the camera.

The
Konica Hexanon 150mm (42mm equivalent on 4x5 and 30mm on 5x7). I
bought it from Jim
Galli for $65.

A
Wollensak 330mm (94mm equivalent on 4x5 and 67mm equivalenton 5x7)
process lens. I paid $75 on eBay.

Then
I thought I might want a long lens. $24 for this 21 1/4" Kodak
Anastigmat (540mm) (153mm equivalent on 4x5 and 109mm equivalent
on 5x7.) I have 16 inches of bellows so I will need to build a lens
and a back extension. This one will need to go off to Carol
Miller first. Very stiff.
Additions
needed:
I'm
pretty well set here. I would like something wider but there are
no inexpensive options. Maybe a 120mm or a 105mm or a 90mm lens.
Or not.
